Shower Talk
The shower is always fun for me. A lot of people sing in the shower, but not me. I like to listen. God usually speaks to me in the shower. Usually I spend time with the Lord in the morning and then go and work out. So by the time I take my shower I am primed and ready to hear what God has to say to me. He often gives me good thoughts and ideas. I guess he knows I am captive, attentive and not going anywhere for a while. But, I have really come to appreciate these shower talks. Often times, devotions like the one you are reading now, were birthed from shower talk. It’s pretty cool! The thoughts are diverse and random; I find that God speaks to me that way most often. He reveals things about me, life, family, himself, and whatever – all while I’m in the shower. It’s my job to remember long enough until I get out of the shower and write it down. The other day, out of my shower talk with God came this thought: “Show me a strong Christian and I’ll show you a reader. People who say they don’t like to read, aren’t likely reading the Bible”! I really truly believe this. I talk to people all the time who tell me they just don’t prefer to read and don’t read much. These same people are the ones who don’t read the Bible very often or if they do, it’s only a scripture or two off of Biblegate.com. They are generally up and down in their walk with the Lord and mostly immature in their faith. Why, because they don’t like to read. Their Bible! This shocks me! How can anyone not like to eat – the bread of life!? How can they not want to use their sword – of the Spirit!? How can they not want to know the Word – of life!? Because they have bought the lie the enemy has sold them. Reading is boring. They believe him when he asked the question; why read when you can watch a movie instead? The enemy started conditioning them at a young age by labeling them ADHD and hyperactive. When they were in kindergarten and 1st grade the enemy whispered in their ear that reading is boring. Now they are teenagers and they still hold this as their life mantra. And as a result, they don’t like to, don’t want to and usually don’t read the Basic Instructions God left us Before Leaving Earth. SAD! So I say it again: “Show me a strong Christian and I’ll show you a reader!” If that’s not you now, make it you. Start reading! Turn off the TV, stop socializing so much and pick up a book and start developing the habit! You won’t regret it!
Can you dig it!?!
